The hours that decide your evening
When to put them on, what not to change, and when to take them off. The whole routine is three decisions long.

The trigger is the light switch, not the clock
Sunset moves through the year, so a fixed time is a bad rule. A better one: when you reach for a lamp, reach for the glasses.
In winter that might be 16:30. In midsummer it might be 22:00. Same trigger either way.
- 08:00
Daylight
Bright, cool light. Exactly what you want.
- 17:30
Sun drops
The sky warms and dims on its own.
- 19:30
Lamps and screens take over
Your room goes back to midday light.
- 20:00
Glasses on
Evening light, restored.
- 23:00
Lights out
Take them off and sleep.
Change nothing else
Keep your monitor brightness, your night-shift settings, your lamps and your bedtime. Stacking five changes at once means you never learn which one you felt.
One change, kept for a week, tells you more than a whole new evening routine abandoned on day three.
01
Put them on after sunset
Around the time you switch the lamps on.
02
Change nothing else
Keep your screens, lamps and habits as they are.
03
Take them off for bed
They belong on the nightstand, not on your face.
The first ten minutes feel odd
Everything goes warm and slightly unfamiliar. Whites go cream, cool greys go brown. Your eyes adapt quickly — after a few minutes the room simply looks like an evening room.
Take them off and you get the opposite shock: the screen looks harsh and blue. That contrast is the clearest thing the lens does.
What they are not for
Not for driving at night — any tint costs you light you want on a dark road. Not for daytime screen work, where cool light is exactly what you want. Not for colour-critical work, for obvious reasons.
They are for the hours after sunset, indoors, when the room is running on lamps and screens.
Where they should live
Next to the lamp you switch on first, or on the desk you sit at after dark. The box is rigid and doubles as the case, so the pair that lives in a bag survives the bag.
Two pairs is the quiet fix for the real failure mode: the glasses being in the wrong room.

Habits survive when they cost nothing to keep.
What this means for you
- On when the lamps go on, off at bedtime — that is the whole routine.
- Change one thing at a time so you can tell what you felt.
- Not for driving at night or daytime screen work.
